Lemon
Lemon is an evergreen small tree species belonging to the citrus family, celebrated worldwide for its extraordinarily valuable, zesty, and aromatic fruit. In Turkey, it thrives under optimal agro-climatic conditions across the Mediterranean coastline, notably in Mersin, Erdemli, Silifke, and the fertile Çukurova delta.
Remarkably juicy, with vibrant yellow skin and a high natural acidity level, lemon is an abundant source of Vitamin C. It serves as both an essential culinary accent for beverages, salads, and gourmet cuisines, as well as an indispensable raw material for modern food and cosmetic industries.

Lemon Varieties
Enterdonat
The earliest maturing lemon variety, Enterdonat is predominantly cultivated in Turkey's Eastern Mediterranean region. Turkey leads worldwide production with over 450,000 tons. The fruit is large, elongated, and cylindrical, characterized by its distinctly slanted nipple. The peel is smooth, light green, and shiny, while the pale greenish-yellow pulp has very few seeds. Being an early variety, it is ideal for fresh consumption rather than long storage. The export season spans September through December.

Kutdiken
The oldest and most extensively grown and stored lemon variety in Turkey. Possesses exceptional fruit quality with a smooth, glossy, tightly adhering lemon-yellow rind. The fruit is elliptic, seeded, exceptionally juicy, and highly acidic. Trees demonstrate high vigor, regular fruiting, and well-balanced fruit distribution across the canopy. A premier mid-season variety perfect for extended cold storage.

Cyprus Lemon
Commonly cultivated in the Alanya and Anamur regions, believed to have been introduced from Cyprus in the 1920s. Features a vibrant yellow, shiny, wavy peel of 5.24 mm thickness. The fruit is oval-cylindrical with a distinct neck at the stem and a nearly absent nipple, which is its defining physical trait. Boasts an acidity level of 7-10% and high tree productivity. Fruits ripen from mid-November onwards.

Lisbon
Highly prized across global markets, Lisbon lemon trees are vigorous, hardy, and productive. The fruit is juicy, high in citric acidity, with a smooth yellow peel and intense aroma. Highly suitable for fresh table consumption and international transport.

Meyer
Distinct from other lemons by its compact tree stature (up to 2.5–3 meters) and prolific year-round fruiting habit. Meyer lemons are considerably more cold-tolerant than standard varieties and thrive in sunny, moderate climates. The fruit carries a distinct, sweeter aroma reminiscent of an orange-lemon hybrid. Young trees begin bearing fruit just one year after planting.

Lime (Misket)
Known as green lemon or Lime in Turkey. Celebrated for its unique, zesty, and intensely fragrant profile, lime is the undisputed choice for premium cocktails like mojitos, refreshing beverages, citrus marinades, gourmet dressings, and desserts.

Molla Mehmet
An important native lemon variety widely grown across the Mersin region. Features yellow fruit with medium rind thickness and a distinct neck at the stem end. Has a titratable acidity of 6-10% and notable natural resistance against Mal Secco (Phoma tracheiphila). Regular bearing with high yields.
